Ondrej is a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light in Erlangen, Germany where he works in the peculiar and counterintuitive field of quantum optics. In his work, Ondrej tries to find novel ways in which to couple light to atoms or microscopic mechanical systems which can be useful for processing information using the laws of quantum physics. Ondrej is a theorist—he does not work in a laboratory but instead on solving complex mathematical problems, simulating physical systems on a computer, and talking with experimentalists who are trying to bring his abstract ideas to reality.
