Nicole Foster refers to herself as “just a girl from Adelaide, Australia who loves the ocean” and spends her days tackling some of the most pressing environmental issues in the world today. When there is a break from studying, one can find her diving, surfing, swimming, or basically involved in anything to do with the outdoors or nature. Although her work demands a lot of her time and focus, she finds joy in the little things in life.
Her PhD is in environmental science. She is using environmental DNA buried in sediments to assess how coastal vegetated environments have changed over the past hundreds to thousands of years. She intends to use this work to inform the conservation and management of mangrove, saltmarsh and seagrass communities.
