Nashrah Ahmad

Nashrah is a graduate student at Kent State University, US and currently serves as the Early Career Leader on the Outreach and Communication subcommittee at the Genetics Society of America. With two master’s degrees, she has a strong background in Cell and Molecular Biology and is currently working on her PhD dissertation, which focuses on finding novel small molecules for preventing cartilage degradation in osteoarthritis. She has been active in terms of grantsmanship, having secured research funding through the Graduate Student Senate (GSS) Research award and has actively presented her research at different conferences including the prestigious Gordon Research Conference. Recently, she was selected to receive KSU’s GSS International Travel Award to present her research at the Osteoarthritis Research Society International 2020 World Congress in Vienna. Nashrah is also successful in teaching, having worked as a teaching assistant for 3 years at Kent State University and North East Ohio Medical University. Apart from enjoying research, she is passionate about science communication and won the people’s choice award at 3-minute thesis competition.
