Michael Okyere Asante did his BA and MPhil in Classical History and Civilisation at the University of Ghana before heading to Stellenbosch University to pursue a PhD in Ancient Cultures, having already taught in Ghana for four years. His experience as both student and teacher in the higher education setting provides him with a strong background to reflect on the challenges students and working parents encounter in managing the academic process, and he has devoted part of his time to write on some of these issues when he isn't working on his dissertation. Michael is also a 2018 recipient of the Society for Classical Studies' Pedagogy Award, and loves to take breaks from writing by hiking in the mountains of Stellenbosch.
