Kylie Ball is Alfred Deakin Professor at the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) at Deakin University. She has been researching public health aspects of physical activity, nutrition, obesity prevention and social inequities for almost 20 years. During that period she has provided career development support or mentorship to more than 100 early- and mid-career researchers (ECMRs) from Australia and internationally. Kylie also runs the blog Happy Academic where she posts useful articles on various topics that researchers will find useful. Kylie received a positive response to this blog, which engaged close to 15,000 viewers from over 100 countries in its first year. This encouraged her to launch the Indago Academy in May 2018, in order to focus more on supporting researchers in their careers. Kylie welcomes constructive feedback and questions to help her keep her blog relevant and useful. You can check out her research bio here, link to her here, tweet her here, or read more about the light-bulb moment that led to her starting the Happy Academic blog here.
