Q: What to do if the status of remains unchanged after resubmission of the revised manuscript?

I have submitted a manuscript to PLOS ONE this March. I got a decision of major revisions at the end of May, and I have resubmitted the manuscript at the beginning of July. Although almost 2 month has passed after that, I have not been contacted and the status remains unchanged with “Manuscript Submitted to Journal”. When I hear about the case of another author who has submitted to the same journal, the process of my manuscript seems delayed, even taking into account there was a summer holiday season. Should I make an inquiry to the journal once?

It has been over two months since you submitted your revised manuscript. While it is not uncommon for journals to take that kind of time, it would be a good idea to send an inquiry. sometimes, editors need a little bit of nudging from the author's side to start the review process more proactively. You should write to the journal immediately, inquiring about the current status of the manuscript and asking by when you can expect to see a status change.
