Q: What does the status "manuscript archived by editorial team" mean?
I submitted my paper to a Chinese journal, the status, when translated literally, means "manuscript archived by editorial team." Is this a signal of rejection?
The status "archived" means that the manuscript is no longer "active" in the journal submission system and has been filed away in the journal's archives. Generally speaking, this status appears once the journal's review process for a manuscript is considered closed, which is after the decision. This status usually appears after the decision has been conveyed to the author. If you have not yet received the decision letter or any other information about the decision either through the submission system or via email, you should write to the journal editor and ask for a clarification.
