Q: What does a status change from "Manuscript submitted" to "To author" mean?
Two weeks ago, I submitted a manuscript to a journal and two days after submission the status changed from "Manuscript submitted" to "To author." I checked every folder of my email account but I have not received any email from the journal except the confirmation of submission. Does it mean they found something missing in the submitted manuscript?
From the description of the status change of the submission, it seems the manuscript did not pass the formatting check by the editorial staff and required corrections from the author. If you have no email from the journal and have already checked the spam folder of your mailbox, you may check if the submission system has a record of 'Editor/Author Email' and if an email communication is stored there. If the submission system does not have such records, you should reach out to the editorial office of the journal to get a clarification.
