Q: The status for my accepted manuscript is "Send to production." What does this mean?

Detailed Question -

My paper has been accepted and the status has changed to "send to production." Do I need to do anything? There is no mail from the journal. I just saw this on the submission system and there are no instructions from the editor. What should I do?

1 Answer to this question
Answer:

Congratulations on receiving acceptance for your article! Once your article gets accepted, it goes to the production department of the journal where your article is converted into a format/layout which adheres to the journal’s style of published articles. So, the overall look of your article after copy-editing, language polishing, and typesetting stage will change considerably. This article with the new format will be sent to you for proof-reading. You will need to check your proofs against the original text for accuracy, and check that all figures, tables, etc. are in the right place and are correct. (Spelling and punctuation in your article may have been altered by the copy editor to match the journal style). You will need to check for typographical and factual errors and inform the journal if there are any; the journal will not be responsible for such errors after the proofing stage. The journal will publish your article after they receive the corrected proofs from you.

Hence, at this stage when the status shows “send to production”, you need not do anything. The journal will contact you after copy-editing and typesetting, once they send you the page proofs. You may write to the journal if you have any concerns.
