Q: Should I transfer my manuscript as suggested by the journal that rejected my paper?

Detailed Question -

I submitted a manuscript to an Elsevier journal. It was rejected with an editorial decision and I was suggested to transfer to other journals. However, the recommended journals are clearly do not match with my manuscript in terms of the field or target. I have a doubt if they are actually suggesting me to transfer. If I do not use the transfer service, do I need to inform them about that?

1 Answer to this question
Answer:

Often, journals suggest submitting the manuscript to other journals in their editorial decision letter. These journals are usually suggested based on the subject area of your manuscript. However, the scope of the manuscript is not always taken into consideration. Therefore, on several occasions, the suggested journals fall outside the scope of the manuscript.

The transfer service is always optional and you do not need to inform the editor if you are not interested in it. You only need to inform when you want to select the transfer service.
