Q: The status of my paper is "Editor assignment pending" for more than two months. What should I do?
I submitted a paper to one of Springer journals about 3 months ago and since then the status is "Editor assignment pending." I asked the journal about it and they replied that my paper is active in the journal. Please let me know what should I do now?
The status "Editor assignment pending" means that your paper has still not been assigned to an editor. Since you have already written to the journal and they have responded, there's not much you can do right now. If you write to them again, you might appear too pushy or impatient. Springer journals usually receive a large number of submissions, which is why they often find it difficult to assign an editor. They usually have a few Editors for each subject area, so if those in your area of research already have their hands full at the moment, you might have to wait till they are done with some of their existing work. I would suggest that you wait for another month and then write to the journal again if there is still no change in status.
