Laura Noakes is a PhD student at the Open University School of Law. She has a First Class Honours degree in Law, and has recently completed an MA in Historical Research at Birkbeck, University of London. She has an academic blog, The Portia Post, which she started as a means of communicating her PhD research. This blog chronicles her PhD journey, and examines connections between the fight for parliamentary representation and the fight to be a legal representative for another in a court of law. It also features posts on her larger academic interests–that being women’s rights in early 20th century Britain.
