Dr. Shahid Jameel
Chief Executive Officer of The Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance; specializes in molecular biology and molecular virology; has served on various review and advisory committees of the Government of India and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Dr. Shahid Jameel is the Chief Executive Officer of The Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance since 2013. Prior to this, he was set up and lead the Virology Group at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi for 25 years where his research focused on human viruses.
He has published over 120 peer-reviewed papers and served on various review and advisory committees of the Government of India and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Dr. Jameel has won several prestigious awards in his career. He now serves as a member and chair of many national and international bodies and has also been active in science policy and administration for over two decades.
