Q: How to write a three-line summary of a thesis?
What are the crucial points that I should include?
Firstly, I am not sure if by “three-line summary,” you mean exactly a three-line summary or a “short summary.” A three-line summary would be about 50 words and therefore quite short for a typical summary (although some journals do prescribe that limit for certain abstracts). Most summaries are about 250-300 words long. You should check this with your supervisor.
In the summary, you need to cover the following points:
- Topic of the thesis
- Purpose of the thesis
- Methods use to research the thesis
- Results, conclusions, and discussions found in the research
