Emma Perez-Costas, PhD, has a broad interest in science and extensive experience in science editing and writing. Dr. Perez-Costas started her scientific career at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), where she obtained her B.S. in Biology, as well as her M.S. and PhD in Cell Biology/Neuroscience. In early 2003, Dr. Perez-Costas moved to the University of Maryland School of Medicine (USA) to complete her training in human neuropathology, and neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders. For the past 18 years, she has been involved in research projects ranging from basic comparative neuroanatomy to neuropsychiatry and neurology, and her research has been published in well-known peer-reviewed journals. In addition, she has extensive experience in grant writing and review. Her interest in making science accessible to broader audiences has led her to volunteer as a critic reviewer for Science Books & films, published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Perez-Costas is a freelance science editor for Editage and a guest contributor for Editage Insights.
