Q: Could the paper be rejected if the due date for submitting revisions is over?
Detailed Question -
I have submitted my paper to an Elsevier journal and I received invitation to revise and resubmit and the system gave a due date in 60 days. Could the paper be rejected if this deadline is breached?
1 Answer to this question
Answer:
Different journals have different ways of handling delayed resubmissions. Some may be fine if authors submit the revised paper late while some may choose to reject the submission after the due date. However, it is necessary to communicate with the journal. If you can't meet the deadline, you should write to the editor, explain the reason for the delay, and ask for an extension of the deadline. Some journals are flexible and will push the deadline ahead a bit.
