Q: Can you briefly explain the purpose of a research objective?
A research objective guides your research and all the efforts you put into it. It helps you determine which lines of thought and action to pursue, and which not. The best, most-focused research typically has one overarching objective and multiple smaller objectives under it that help attain the overall objective. The overarching objective may to be come up with a new remedy or solution to an existing challenge or crisis, address an existing gap in an area, or simply, to uncover more insights in the area. Working out research objectives typically comes from knowing and understanding the existing discussions and challenges in the field, which comes from being updated on the literature in the field.
