Q: Can I write to the editor to correct an error in the data?
In the second round of review, I have found an important error of data, which does not affect the result and conclusion. What shall I do next? Do I need to write to the editor? Or I should make the change when I receive feedback for the second round of review?
I think you should first inform the editor about the error. Write to the editor explaining the error and why it needs to be corrected. Mention the page number, line number or table number where the correction is needed and also what the corrected version will be. You can then ask him/her whether you can make the correction when you receive feedback for the second round of review or if you should make the correction immediately. Take necessary action based on what the editor suggests.
