Q: Can I use the consent documents that were actually used instead of the template specified by the journal?
I am going to submit my manuscript to the Asian Journal of Sports Medicine. There is a section of “informed consent” in the online submission system and an example template is provided. My measurement work was done several years ago, and the example template is in English which is difficult for non-English speaker. Would it be enough if I prepare translation of the instruction sheet and the consent sheet that were actually used during the measurement work?
Thank you for your question.
Asian Journal of Sports Medicine accepts informed consents in either English or Persian, and I believe you are not comfortable with either language. However, since that is the journal requirement, it would be necessary for all authors to adhere to it. I understand the difficulties faced by non-native authors in such cases, but once you’ve finalized the document in the template provided by the journal, you can seek help from https://www.editage.com/services/translation, and they will be able to refine the document for you and ensure that it is publication ready.
I hope this helps!
