Bio

B.A. (Environmental Studies), B.Sc (Environmental Science and Resource Management); M.Sc & M.I.N.C (International Nature Conservation); PhD student at University of Wisconsin MadisonSophia is German-American and currently a PhD Candidate at University of Wisconsin Madison. She has a dual Master’s degree in International Nature Conservation from the University of Göttingen (Germany) and Lincoln University (New Zealand) and two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Washington. Sophia’s research is focused on developing solutions for curbing tropical deforestation in Latin America through applying interdisciplinary methodology drawing from disciplines such as conservation psychology, conservation science, marketing. Particularly, her research explores human behavior and decision-making processes to influence pro-environmental behavior. Sophia is on the advisory board for Wild Forests & Fauna and on the Society for Conservation Biology’s Social Science Working Group communications team where she develops social media content and strategy.
