Bio

Dr. Rivera-Lopez served in the United States Army from 1989 to 2009 in different capacities before wrapping up his army career with a one-year tour in Afghanistan. After retiring from the Army, he enrolled in Colorado Technical University and completed a bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Security (2009-2012), a master’s degree in Computer Science (2013-2014) and a Doctoral Degree with a concentration in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance (2014-2018). His dissertation title is "Exploring the strategies network security managers need to protect their networks from backdoor intrusions". He is a member of Colorado Technical University Alumni Association. Currently, Dr. Rivera-Lopez is planning to select a journal and write papers about backdoor intrusions. He spends most of his time reading and researching while focusing on his health. His short-term plan is to write a scholarly article. His mid-term plan is to write a book on a topic in the field of Cybersecurity and Information Assurance and his long term-plan is to become a professional independent researcher, academic and author.
