Annals of Laboratory Medicine now shares video summaries for articles
(October 31, 2017; Seoul, South Korea) Annals of Laboratory Medicine (ALM) has partnered with Editage to make Video Summaries support available to authors publishing their research articles in the journal. Through this partnership, authors can opt for professional help from Editage to get video summaries created for their research articles published in ALM. The journal will publish the custom-produced videos as part of the article of record in the Table of Contents online and as part of a video gallery on the journal website, and help present published works in an engaging audio-visual format and without paywalls.
Basil D’souza, Vice President, Academic and Publisher Relations, Editage, expressed excitement for this collaboration, “Being a nuclear physicist myself, I understand the challenge that published authors face in reaching an audience beyond the readership of the journal and beyond their niche community. Editage video summaries can help authors present their work to peers and interdisciplinary collaborators alike.” These short videos highlight the focal points of a published research paper as easy-to-understand synopses.
Mina Hur, Editor-in-Chief of ALM, shared her enthusiasm about the joint initiative, “Videos are an excellent medium for communicating research findings. We are very pleased to partner with Editage. In addition to being engaging, the videos created by Editage’s expert team are easy to share on social media and multiple professional platforms. The videos are linked to the original publication, so we expect them to increase the number of downloads, reads, and citations for the source papers.”
Editage will also provide authors with a support kit that contains the video transcript, audio file, a slide deck for use in presentations, and tips on promoting the video summary for maximum visibility. As more journals embrace the need to drive research impact, a service portfolio like Editage Research Communication Services helps authors and journals to communicate key takeaways of published research to broad audiences.
