Editage organizes a 3-day online course for early-career researchers in Brazil
(December 19, 2016; São Paulo, Brazil) - Editage organized an online mini-course between November 28 and December 2, titled “Essentials of a Successful Publication: Journal Selection, Writing, and Promotion,” which was delivered in Portuguese. Over 800 early-career researchers, academics, as well as master’s and doctoral students interested in publishing their research in well-reputed journals with international visibility participated in the online mini-course. The mini-course was taught by Karin Hoch Fehlauer Ale, an internationally renowned instructor at Editage with a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP). Karin has worked as a postdoctoral researcher for six years at different institutions, including the Center for Marine Biology at USP and the Center of Studies of the Sea at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). She has published several articles in international journals and has authored various funding proposals for national and international projects. Currently, she is an editor at the journal Zootaxa.
The course, organized by Editage Insights, was divided into three one-hour-long webinars, each of which ended with a live 20-minute Q&A session with the instructor. Participants who attended three-quarters of each class and at least one live webinar were awarded a participation certificate. The course addressed the main steps involved in the publication of scientific articles in international journals, from selecting the right journal, through relevant aspects of scientific writing in English, to the final stage of publication. The first webinar, “Select the right journal and avoid delays in publication,” was held on November 28, 2016. The second webinar, “Avoid common errors in English when writing your scientific article,” was held on November 30, 2016. The third one, “Be read and cited: How to promote your article,” was held on December 2, 2016.
Those who missed the live webinars can still register for each webinar to access the recordings.
