Overleaf collaborates with Editage® to offer its authors publication-ready language editing services
London, January 26, 2015 – Editage, a leading provider of editorial and publication support services for the global research community and the flagship brand of Cactus Communications, and Overleaf, a rapidly growing online collaborative writing and publishing platform by WriteLaTeX, have entered into an agreement to allow Overleaf authors to directly transfer manuscripts to Editage for its entire range of language editing services.
Overleaf is fast becoming the leading provider of tools for writing scholarly papers in an online collaborative academic world. With over two million scientific papers published every year, and with most of the world’s largest technical and medical innovations beginning with a scientific paper, there is an ever-growing demand for efficient and effective ways to create and collaborate on scientific papers. Editing and language polishing often constitute the last leg of the scientific publication process. This relationship ensures Overleaf users the support they need in the form of comprehensive manuscript editing and publication support services from Editage during the final stages before journal submission. Access to Editage and its global editorial network guarantees authors the support they need to develop a well-written manuscript ready for publication.
Speaking on the relationship, John Hammersley, Co-Founder and CEO of Overleaf, said, “Overleaf is being used by a diverse range of authors worldwide to write their research papers, books, project reports and more – since we launched we’ve compiled over 1.5 billion pages of documents. By providing links to editorial and publication support services such as those offered by Editage alongside our direct journal submission links, we can streamline the process to publication and make it easier for authors to submit their manuscripts to the destination of their choice.”
Donald Samulack, President, US Operations at Editage, remarked, “We realized very early in our relationship with Overleaf that collaboration between Editage and Overleaf could be of great value to Overleaf users by pairing the manuscript writing experience with professional editorial support. Together with leading innovators like Overleaf, we strive to contribute value in the ever-expanding publishing ecosystem.”
The Overleaf announcement marks the second partnership Editage has managed to secure with eminent scholarly communication industry players (after Aries earlier this year). These efforts are in line with Editage’s goal of becoming a trusted advisor to its community of scholarly researchers.
