Editage presents at the SciELO conference, Brazil, on October 25, 2013
On October 25, 2013, Donald Samulack, President US Operations will be part of a panel discussing “Experiences, Solutions, and Products and Services in Scholarly Communications” at the international conference held to commemorate the 15th birthday of the SciELO Platform—an open access network that indexes more than 1000 journals and 400,000 papers.
Editage is one of the sponsors for this conference, which will be held from October 22-25, 2013, at the Intercontinental Hotel in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The focus of the conference is to discuss open access publishing and the challenges that journals face today. It is expected that around 500 academicians, including editors, publishers, and authors will be attending the event. It is an international event, with simultaneous translation in English and Spanish, and with speakers from several countries, including, Brazil, China, Japan, US, Canada, Spain, India, South Africa, Switzerland and UK
As part of the panel, Donald Samulack will present a session on Can an Author’s Editor Help Expedite Peer Review of the Manuscript They Edit?
Journal editors and peer reviewers are the ultimate gatekeepers in the publication of high-quality scholarly works. Yet, ESL (English as a second language) authors aiming to get their work published in SCI-indexed, high-impact, English-language journals face many hurdles related to the basic structure of their research manuscript. Journal editors are burdened with an ever-increasing number of manuscript submissions from non-English speaking authors, worldwide. Reviewers do not wish to be burdened with papers that are poorly crafted. A good author’s editor, while working on behalf of the author, really balances the best interests of all stakeholders (author, editor, peer reviewer). In this lecture, Donald Samulack will explore these dynamics and highlight the value of various forms of editorial review prior to manuscript submission.
